Some effective methods of piles treatment

In most of the  countries  of the world today  a significant  portion of the  population, majority of which include the  women especially  the pregnant  women and the aged persons (around  50 years of age) suffer from a  common  but chronic disease  known  as  Piles or Hemorrhoids. Piles are a combined result of various factors such as persistent constipation, straining during bowel movements and prolonged sitting in the toilet. Piles treatment is proving a hard nut to crack both for the patients as well as the medical world.

Piles or Hemorrhoids as they are medically known, are bulging blood vessels which may develop externally i.e. around the anus or internally i.e. in the lower rectum.  Due  to the incredibly growing  number  of  the  affected  patients and its implications, Piles treatment is turning  out  to be  a  challenge for  the  medical  world.

Hemorrhoids  patients can  be classified  into two categories:  (i) those  suffering  from Internal Hemorrhoid- i.e. hemorrhoid developed in  the lower rectum and (ii)  those suffering  from External Hemorrhoid  i.e. hemorrhoid  appearing  under the skin surrounding the anus. Of the two, the patients suffering from external hemorrhoids are doomed to suffer more as in this case the skin becomes irritated and may also be eroded. For Piles treatment of this category of patient, hemorrhoidectomy- a surgical solution is usually adopted. If an external hemorrhoid is accompanied by a blood clot the patient experiences severe and sudden pain. Internal hemorrhoids on the other end are painless although they may be accompanied with bleeding. Both Internal & External Hemorrhoids give rise to severe problems. A hemorrhoid normally contains small amount of mucus and small particles   stool which cause an irritation medically referred to as Pruritus Ani. As such, we may adopt one or more of the following methods for effective Piles treatment:-

(i)    Rubber Band Ligation: In this method, slow and steady shrinking is enabled at and around the root of hemorrhoid. This procedure must be repeated 2 to 4 times with a time lapse of 6 to 8 eight weeks. Other similar techniques are laser coagulation, scelrotherapy and cryosurgery.

(ii)          Hemorrhoidectomy: This surgical method is mostly used to treat External Hemorrhoids.   In this method a narrow incision is made around hemorrhoid tissue and the infected blood vessels are removed.

(iii)     Hemorrhoidopexy:  In this method, so as to restore the hemorrhoids in its place of origin, surgeon makes use of a specific device meant for stapling. This method involves use of anaesthesia.

Some effective measures for Piles treatment   at home can be enumerated as follows:-

(i)    Regular Bowel evacuation: Whenever you feel an urge to empty the bowels immediately go to the toilet without waiting for a more proper time. A regular bowel evacuation will help you get rid of the disease to a significant extent.
(ii)    Warm water bath: Also known as the Sitz bath, this kind of bath relieves the itching and irritation in the affected portion.
(iii)    Regular Exercise: Aerobic exercise like taking a walk for 20-30 minutes daily stimulates the functioning of the bowels thereby reducing the possibility of occurrence of Piles.
